Summary

The objective of a Faction Struggle is to be the Faction that earns the most points by capturing Control Zones in the area. Each Faction Struggle takes place in one of the cities of Avadon and alternates between Mounted and Unmounted combat. You can get information about an upcoming Faction Struggle by typing [Factions or through the Guild menu. These large scale battles are 30 minutes long and occur every 4 hours.

Gameplay Details

  • Capture the Control Zone(s) to earn points for your faction
    • The more faction members standing in the Control Zone, the faster it is captured
    • If an opposing faction member is also standing in the Control Zone, it will become contested and progress will halt
    • If no faction members are in the Control Zone, the meter will begin to decay until reaching zero and then convert to neutral status
  • The faction with the most points at the end wins
    • All participants receive at least one Faction Reward Point

Faction Hotbar

The Faction Hotbar displays important information about the Faction Struggle in a compact design. You can access it from the Faction Struggles menu or by typing [factionhotbar. The Faction Hotbar displays:

  • Current score
  • Control Zone progress
  • Time Remaining
  • Player's current points
  • Names and locations of Control and Respawn Zones
  • Click any of the gems to activate a tracking arrow that will point towards a Zone

Times and Duration

  • Faction Struggles last for 30 minutes
  • Faction Struggles occur every 4 hours
  • Faction Struggle times are as follows every day:
    • 12am CST
    • 4am CST
    • 8am CST
    • 12pm CST
    • 4pm CST
    • 8pm CST

Faction Struggle Participation

  • Players must begin a Faction Struggle within their Faction's Base to be counted as Participating
  • Green Faction Moongates appear in towns prior to the event which teleports players to their Faction Base
  • Once a Faction Struggle begins, players who move further than 200 tiles away from any Capture or Respawn Zone are no longer considered participants
    • This means no special Faction Struggle rules will apply until they return to the area
    • These rules include scoring, item usage, death, respawning, guard exemption for murderers, etc

Item Usage

Players participating in Faction Struggles have free consumption of the following items:

  • Reagents
  • Bandages
  • Arrows/Bolts

Notoriety/Flagging

  • Members of the same guild will flag as Blue to each other if one is participating in a Faction Struggle and the other is not
  • Murderer players participating in a Faction Struggle will flag as Blue to non-faction participants so long as they do not commit a murder during the event (which will cause them to lose their temporary blue status)

Stamina-Free Movement

  • Participants in Faction Struggles can now push through non-participants without stamina loss
  • This prevents non-participants from blocking and griefing Faction players

Death

  • If a Faction Struggle participant dies, they are immediately teleported (with any nearby pets) and resurrected at their Faction Base
  • Respawn timer for participants in Faction Bases is 90 seconds
  • Murderer players can be resurrected by Faction Base healers (if they show up to a Faction Struggle dead)
  • Normal corpse looting rules apply during a Faction Struggle

Faction Struggle participants no longer drop ANY items upon death with the exception of the following:

  • Potions
  • Weapons or Armor made with colored materials
  • Magical Weapons and Armor
  • Aspect Weapons and Armor

Underdog Bonuses

  • When one faction's score falls below the opposing faction's by certain amounts, the losing faction will activate Underdog Bonuses that remain in play for the remainder of the Faction Struggle for them (even if they later increase their score past those amounts)
  • Players can view which Underdog Bonuses are activated for their faction in the [Faction gump window and click the orb button next to each bonus for a description of it

Late Arrival

  • Activated when losing by 50 Points
  • Allows members of the faction who are not currently participating in the Faction Struggle to enter Faction Moongates and enter the Faction Struggle after it has already started to join their Faction's team

Fast Respawn

  • Activated when losing by 75 Points
  • Reduces respawn cooldown for by 30 seconds

Blessed Armaments

  • Activated when losing by 100 Points
  • All weapons and armor (including Aspect, Colored Material, and Magical) are now blessed
