Summary

  • Players will now come across unique and rare Paintings in Outlands in a handful of systems
  • The most likely source of Paintings will be as loot from Trade Caravans, but they will also very rarely occur as normal loot in other systems that generate rare items
  • Paintings come in three sizes and corresponding rarities:
    • Portrait (Common)
    • Landscape (Uncommon)
    • Large (Rare)

Frames

  • Players can use the Carpentry skill to craft Painting Frames, which can be placed in a house and positioned (using the house Interior Decorator tools) to "frame" in the same location as a Painting
  • There are 3 types of Frames available for each size/rarity of Painting
    • Thin
    • Textured
    • Deluxe
  • Players can dye Painting Frames using Furniture Dye

Antiquities and Registering Paintings

  • Paintings are considered Antiquities, and three new Antiquity categories have been created for them:
    • Portrait Paintings
    • Landscape Paintings
    • Large Paintings
  • Players can use an Antiquity Manifest (craftable with Inscription) to "Register" Paintings in the same manner as players can register and claim credit for Antiquities
  • Players can navigate through the different Painting categories in an Antiquity Manfiest and see all of the possible Paintings available and how many players have registered it so far, who the first person on the server was to Register each one, and whether the player themselves has registered an instance of that specific Painting
  • Players will earn Achievement Points for registering paintings of each size/rarity similar to earning achievements for normal Antiquities
