This mechanic pairs well with codex stance renewal and more specifically the Wrestling stance adoption bonus. Drinking alcohol is another method to trigger this effect.

Finisher Threshold Increase

Increases the health % threshold that players are able to trigger weapon and parry finishers at. Which are at 25% or below on normal creatures, 33% or below on boss-level creatures and 33% for parry finishers, which are based on the players health %.
