Deciphering a Treasure Map

    • Double-click the Spyglass and then target a Treasure Map
    • Players may further make Cartography attempts through Spyglasses to improve the accuracy of the Treasure Map

Using a Shovel and Bonuses

  • Players must use a Shovel to dig up a Treasure Chest
    • Double-click the Shovel to attempt to locate any decoded Treasure Maps within a player's backpack
    • A player's Mining skill as well as the quality and material bonus of the Shovel used determines how close the player must be to the actual location of the chest to dig it up
    • When the Treasure Chest has been successfully located, a tracking arrow will point towards it

Shovel Resource Bonuses

  • Base Search Range of 2
  • Search range increased by (100% * (Mining Skill / 100))

Discovering a Treasure Chest

  • When a player has successfully dug up a Treasure Chest, a wave of monsters will appear which must be cleared before the Treasure Chest can be accessed
  • Additional waves of monsters will generate after a time, based on the Treasure Map difficulty, until the Chest has been "Demolished" by the person who dug the Chest up, or after it decays
  • Any player not in the Party of the person who dug up the Treasure Chest will perform a criminal act (and turn gray) if they open the chest or take any items
  • Treasure Map Chests have a single wave of spawn, and this spawn occurs 3-5 seconds after digging up the Chest
  • Players are unable to Lockpick, Snoop, or Demolish a Treasure Map Chest until all creature spawns are killed
  • Players are unable to Demolish a Treasure Map Chest until it has been unlocked

Unlocking and Untrapping a Treasure Chest

  • Players can double-click a Treasure Map Chest to open a special window to see their progress and choose their actions
    • Players can also elect to simply double-click Lockpicks or Trap Tool and target the chest
    • Single-clicking on a Treasure Chest will display the chest's Lockpicking/Remove Trap progress (if any has been made)
    • Players cannot open a chest until the Lockpicking Progress on the chest reaches 100%
  • Treasure Map Chests have a Lock and Trap Difficulty from level 1-8
    • Traps increase in power and effect based on the Trap Difficulty level of the chest
  • Players can make Lockpicking attempts on the chest using Lockpicks, with successes increasing the Lockpicking Progress on the chest (with more difficult chests requiring more successes to reach 100%)

Triggering a Trap

  • A player who triggers a Trap is not able to use the Hiding skill or be hidden with the Invisibility spell for the next 5 seconds
  • Players have a chance to trigger a trap when making Lockpicking attempts, which will cancel their Lockpicking attempt, and instead deal one of 15 different harmful effects to the player
  • A player triggering a trap on a Dungeon or Treasure Map chest does not remove any traps from the chest (players may continue to trigger traps on it)

Types of Traps

When attempting to open a chest, players will encounter several types of traps:

Alarm Fire Barrage Massive Spike
Bleeding Spike Frailty Poison Barrage
Chaos Fumble Polymorph
Disease Glue Scorch
Exhaustion Ice Barrage Shock
Explosion Knockback Web

Removing a Trap

  • Players can make Remove Trap attempts on the Treasure Chest using a Trap Tool
  • Successes increase the Remove Trap Progress on the chest (with more difficult chests requiring more successes to reach 100%
  • Players making Remove Trap attempts on a chest have a chance to trigger a trap, albeit at a drastically lower chance than for Lockpicking attempts
  • The current Remove Trap Progress % on a Treasure Chest reduces the chance of triggering traps for both Lockpicking attempts as well as Remove Trap attempts by that % amount

Looting a Treasure Chest

  • Players are unable to Lockpick, Snoop, or Demolish a Treasure Map Chest until all creature spawns are killed
  • Any player not in the Party of the person who dug up the Treasure Chest will perform a criminal act (and turn gray) if they open the chest or take any items
  • When a player completes a Treasure Map Chest and Demolishes the Chest through the Context Menu on the Chest, they have a (Map Level x 1%) chance to receive a special Treasure Map Chest container as a loot item
  • Treasure Map Chests will naturally decay after 2 hours if empty of contents. Patch 20191019
